Volunteering

Issues with gaining and retaining volunteers

Suggestions given to help overcome this

Sign up sheet for parents to fill in, noting down all their skills and/or sign up to volunteer a minimum amount in order for their child to come to the youth club.

Advertising on Volunteer website, in the local press etc. Information below from Damien regarding Wiltshire Spark site where you can advertise for volunteers and events speak to Jo Kerr at jo.kerr@wiltshire.gov.uk for more information

There is also a volunteering centre in Swindon which covers volunteering in Swindon and Wiltshire.

Funding

There are a few different avenues Damien talked about mainly Area Board Funding and a Comic relief fund available to all youth groups.  Email Damien for more information, also attached is a  form to fill in to join WYSC which runs courses and training if you fill the form in and get it back to Damien he will send you more information.

Transportation

There are Wiltshire minibuses available 18 seat in Mere and 12-14 seat in Chippenham.  However the best option if transport is needed is to contact Wiltshire council regarding MPV which can be hired for free (as long as they are available) from Marlborough, they hold 6 people plus a driver.  You will need to take a familiarisation test .  Again if you are interested contact Damien.  Community First is currently putting together a database for all transport (minibus, MPV etc) available in Wiltshire.

AOB

If you are planning any camping trips over the summer holidays Marlborough Youth Centre has a small supply of camping equipment which is available to all the surrounding village youth centres/clubs/councils.  Contact Jan on 01672 512 762.

Aldbourne Youth Council have youth football goals which are available for use if you are planning any foot baling events.
