Baydon Parish Council Meeting of 13th August 2012

An extra meeting of the Parish Council was held on Monday 13th August in the BYPA Hall with Cllr Andy Knowles in the chair. All Parish Councillors were present plus 5 members of the public. The Clerk, Mrs Marie Hogan had sent her apologies as she was currently on holiday

Cllr Knowles began by giving tribute to Cllr Michael Edmonds who died recently. Michael Edmonds, he said, did a huge amount for Baydon Parish Council during his time as a councillor. This was re-iterated by the other councillors present.  The councillors are to attend the funeral to be held at St. Michaels Church in Aldbourne on Wednesday 15th August at 11am, having already sent their condolences and offers of support to Michael’s family

In Public Question Time Mr Jim Grove pointed out that the bin outside of the Cricket Field was overflowing. Mr Grove also requested that a bin be provided at the start of the “Alpaca Walk”, the new Bridle path around Baydon House. Cllr Tamsin Witt agreed to look into both matters

Planning:-

Retention of access and driveway for residential, agricultural and equestrian use, and the construction of a new access track to adjoining fields at Baydon House Farm had been submitted.  There were no objections from the Parish Council

A litter pick has been organised for Saturday 8th September starting at 10am outside the shop

The Big Breakfast, an event by the Parish Council in support of St. Nicholas Church Roofing Fund will be held on Sunday 9th September, if a venue can be found

Cllr Witt proposed that £15,000 of the s106 monies be used as match funding in a bid for a grant from the North Wessex Downs Leadership Fund. She proposed the money be spent on refurbishing the BYPA Hall kitchen, insulating the roof and re-flooring the BYPA Hall. When asked about the heating system, Cllr Witt said that separate funding is being sought for that, and for the toilets

Cllr Alison Tomkins pointed out that the BYPA Hall was a priority in the Village Plan so she was in agreement with the proposal. All agreed

Cllr Knowles said that in a meeting with Optimise he had agreed that they could put a sign on the Village Green from 1st September for a week during their site audit. In return the company had sent 4 people to help decorate the BYPA Hall during the weekend of 11th/12th August as well as contributed towards the cost of the paint, brushes, etc and this was a positive contribution to the village
