Baydon Women’s Institute – July 2009

12 members attended the July meeting in the School Hall.

The speaker Dinah Starkey from Trowbridge was unable to give her talk on Fasts and Feasts as her car had broken down. Dr Trevor Tiplady retired from practice at Ramsbury Surgery, agreed at very short notice to give an illustrated talk on his trip to South Africa and Alaska.

President Mrs Penny Stephens thanked Dr Tiplady for showing the excellent slides and for filling the programme so ably with only 7 hours notice.

The competition for a Cookery Book was won by Ms Francis Parlane, second was Mrs Dorothy Newman.

Bloom of the month was won by Mrs Juliet Keel with Mrs Barbara Furber and Francis Parlane joint second.

The next meeting, in August, will be a trip to the Wantage Museum.
