At the Institutes monthly meeting, held on Thursday May 14th in the St Nicholas School Hall, the WI Resolution was discussed.

Mesdames Penny Stephens and Juliet Keel outlined the proposal which was entitled SOS for Bees. Honey bees play a vital roll in the pollination of food crops in our environment.

In view of concerns about the accelerating decline in the UK’s Honey Bee population this meeting urged Her Majesty’s Government to increase funding for research into the health of Bees.

Members voted overwhelmingly for the resolution before settling down to a sumptuous supper provided by the 15 members present.

The next meeting on Thursday June 11th will be held in the St Nicholas School hall at 7.30pm and will be an Open meeting. The speaker Susan Howe will “Canter through a Funny Life”.
