Making Baydon St Nicholas a school for the 21st Century
We have Government allocated funding of £545,000 to build a new extension for the school
Our plan includes additions to the main structure of our school with a new classroom, a Headteacher’s office and an Administration office. The latter two are presently housed in the cramped upstairs rooms of the Victorian schoolhouse. The enhanced teaching spaces will include wireless computer facilities. The extension will allow disabled access for children, staff and visitors to our school. The new school building has been designed to look more in keeping with the surrounding traditional village homes with brick and flint detailing and a slate roof.
Ecological considerations will be taken into account in the construction of the extension.
Our aim is to provide an improved environment for our children by increasing space for them to work in and to offer a super venue for the whole of the Baydon community to use.
We hope to commence construction in early 2010 – the project to be completed within a year. The health and safety of our children and staff will be a top priority throughout the construction period.
As a
At present we have 112 children on our school roll and the maximum capacity of the school is fixed at 119 and there are no plans to change this.
