Aldbourne and Baydon Link Scheme

The first Annual Meeting of the Link Scheme was held in Aldbourne on 15th March. The Scheme has now been operational for a year and has proved to be a very useful facility for people needing transport to and from hospital and doctors’ surgery. Over the year there were around 300 requests for help and the 21 volunteer drivers covered a distance of 3,500 miles.

The Chairman of the steering committee, Dr John Railton, thanked the committee for all the work which they had done in establishing the Scheme.  John then relinquished the chair and handed over to Brian Buckler who will be Chairman until the next AGM.

Volunteers

The Scheme is always seeking more volunteers to act as drivers. A volunteer is NOT expected to be available at all times but only at times which suit their own particular circumstances. Drivers receive an allowance to cover their expenses. If YOU would like to become a volunteer for this very valuable service, please contact Diana Whitcutt, 01672 541345.

Dog Show

A dog show is being held on The Green in Aldbourne on Saturday 26th May at 2pm. Bring your dog along for what promises to be an exciting afternoon.  Proceeds to Link Scheme and Blue Cross.
